The problem with the RCX is that it's just not designed to play waveform audio
The actual sound hardware is a tiny speaker wired to special timer output pins of the H8 CPU. The H8 has buit in functions for outputting square-waves over these pins.
Well, a square wave gives you nice beeps, but not very nice speech. In fact speech just using square waves is virtually unintelligible, even at very high sample rates, so initially I though speech on the RCX would be impossible.
