There are quite a few fashionable new Turkish restaurants, many of whch are pricey and offer disappointing food. Hamsi comes as a breath of fresh air, with a wide range of excellent authentic Turkish cuisine in pleasant surroundings all without breaking the bank. There's a good choice of fish, seafood and vegetarian dishes alongside classic Turkish Meatfests kept light by handfuls of fresh dill. Value for money is exceptional, with most main courses around the £6 mark. Highly recommended.

Hara is set on two floors, with the plush restaurant on the mezzanine level overlooking the stylish Circle Bar. Situated a stones throw from Tower Bridge, the combination of luxury restaurant and a bar to match the best in London is certainly unique to this area.
Head Chef Bhuwan Bhatt’s impressive credentials have included being appointed as Executive Chef of the Oberoi Group in Delhi, and his position as Head Chef at critically acclaimed Tabla Restaurant, London. Hara is Bhuwan’s most ambitious project to date, with his menu reflecting his desire to create food from all areas of the East. Bhuwan is clearly pleased with the opportunity and commented “Unlike my previous appointments, Hara has given me the opportunity to completely express myself in the kitchen. Diners will experience my true style; London has such a wealth of great fresh ingredients available, so don’t be surprised to see game and other seasonal items on the menu!”
Unusually for an Indian restaurant, the attention to detail continues with a fantastic wine list designed to complement the mouth-watering food. Starters include Mussels cooked with lemon, coconut milk and coriander (£6.95), a classic Tokri Papri Chaat (£5.95), and the chef’s signature Hara Crab Cakes (£8.95). For mains tuck a hearty Kashmiri Lamb with crushed chillies and onion seeds£12.95) or a Pudina Lobster cooked in the Tandoor (£34.95), whilst the vegetarian must have is Baigan Mirchi Ka Salan, dumplings cooked in garlic spinach (£9.95). For the more adventurous, Hara have included a mouth watering Wild Boar dish(£13.95) cooked with onion, tomato, pepper and aromatic spices. Completing the meal are some delicious sides including Hara Taka Dal or Punjabi Bhini all at £4.95. If you still have room why not try one of chef’s homemade desserts. With an extensive wine list all matched to Chef Bhuwan’s exquisite food, Hara is set to become the place to visit for London’s foodie’s. Additionally, with its unique lunchtime and bar menu of delicious light bites and wraps, Hara offers something for all occasions!
Hara’s wine is whirlwind tour around the grape growing countries of the world. The list starts with a 2003 Kanu Chenin Blanc £18.00 or try the wonderful 2003 Matakana Pinot Gris £33.00 for a big wine try 2002 Puligny Montrachet P.Pernot at a reasonable £51.25. In the reds you can quaff everything from Finca Antigua Temprannillo, La Mancha £18.00 to 2000 Nuits St George, Alain Michelot, the list also has a selction of champagnes, roses and dessert wines.
Amongst its features, Hara provides one of few non-smoking Indian restaurants and bars in London, allowing to diners to fully appreciate the flavours in their food. Such a policy is has not deterred customers, with Hara quickly becoming popular with local residents, businesses and tourists alike! Hara is also one of the few restaurants in London to provide lead-free drinking glasses. Whilst the glass is environmentally friendly, it was also recently discovered that lead in glasses presents an unacceptable exposure to hazardous toxins.

The unique menu includes pizzas themed on the Seven Deadly Sins, as well as some Kiwi specialities like Corn Nuggets and Kumara Chips. Hellish toppings include; smoked salmon, camembert, avocado, re-fried beans and satay sauce, as well as all of the usual ingredients you’d expect on a pizza. All toppings are sourced locally and cooked fresh every day by a team of trained demons.
Even the desserts in Hell are distinctly different, with pizza bases filled with fresh fruit, custard and chocolate for people with a devilish sweet tooth. If it’s all too much to cope with in one sitting the Hell Pizza boxes have a handy push-out coffin to keep your remains for another time!

Well it had been around for years but despite all the write ups in the window we kept walking past. However yesterday we decided to give it a go. It is very simple –someones dining room from 1950? Very hushed with no music. Greeted by a very happy looking waiter. Place got a bit busier and louder with a few regulars showing up.
Started with hummus and taramasolata – compared to the supermarket stuff we have got used to (and now love!) it was pretty tasteless.
Next I had meatballs and dolmades with rice £9 which was very pleasant and Dominic had mixed grill –kidneys and liver which he said was good (£12-13). House red £11.
Dominic then made a mistake of ordering crepe suzette – his favourite - £8. Last time we had been in a French restaurant and watched them prepare this – scraping the sugar cube against the skin of a lemon and then the skin of an orange melting the butter etc etc. It was a performance all in itself. At Hellenic it wasn’t and the result was very disappointing.
Total bill for 2 including wine and service £57
Compared to other restaurants in the area we felt that it was bad value.

This is definitely the worst Restaurant I have ever been to.
No doubt they probably get away with it in Hampstead too.
Terrible food with even worse service.
With places like this to eat, no wonder the sales of Pot Noodle are up.
