Tajima-tei looks fairly unassuming on the surface, just another of London's many sushi bars. However the food in here is one notch above most of the others. The sushi is extrememly fresh, and the standard of authenticity, presentation and quality of the variety of other dishes available is also very good. The interior is fairly standard simple Japanese style, and feels a bit canteen-like, but the food makes up for this. Quite popular with Japanese city workers, although never as busy as it deserves.

The Toubadour is an Earl's Court institution, it's been here around fifty years. A very informal, almost pub-like atmosphere, and good solid food means it has many regular customers.
It's recently expanded into the premises either side, and there's now a small delicatessen too.

Not surprisingly TewntyFour at Tower42 is on the 24th floor. We're talking great views here. Not cheap by anybody's standards, but the general quality and service is said be be much improved since when it first opened.

Basic Chinese Restaurant on Goodge street. Canteen style interior. Food is reasonable, but the range is rather limited, and the lunchtime buffet is disappoining. However the 'Eat as much as you like' special in the evening is definitely worth a try if you are hungry.
